One of the earliest signs of aging is a loss of facial fullness and the development of wrinkles. Softening of these facial lines and the restoration of volume and fullness in the face often can be achieved non-surgically with injectable fillers. If you would like to reduce the appearance of lines and creases or restore facial contours, injection therapy with soft tissue fillers may be right for you. Dr. Cuite offers various types of facial fillers, each designed with one or several purposes. She will discuss your objectives with you and recommend a filler based on your skin type and condition.
What is Juvéderm® and Juvederm® XC? Both fillers are composed of a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps add volume and hydration. What is the difference between JUVÉDERM® & JUVÉDERM® XC? While both fillers instantly smooth away wrinkles and provide natural-looking results that last up to one year, JUVÉDERM® XC is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment. Dr. Cuite will discuss your objectives with you and recommend a filler based on your skin type and condition. What do they do? Both fillers temporarily add volume to facial tissue and restore a smoother appearance to the face. They fill wrinkles from below and smooth them out. How are they used? Juvéderm™ and Juvederm® XC fillers are injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur. What will they accomplish? Both fillers help smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing, and the results last about six to twelve months. What are possible side effects? Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and the duration is short. The most common side effects include temporary injection-site reactions such as: redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a small risk of infection or allergy. Does the correction last forever? No. Correction is temporary; therefore, touch-up injections as well as repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal correction.
