Dr. James Wilson earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. A dedicated eye care professional with over three decades of experience, Dr. Wilson has practiced full-scope optometry in a variety of settings, including private practice and multi-provider ophthalmology clinics. His career has focused on comprehensive eye care, including medical management of ocular disease, contact lens fitting, and co-management of surgical patients.
Before joining Illinois Eye Center in 2025, Dr. Wilson served patients in the Peoria and Pekin areas through his own private practice and at Bond Eye Associates, where he worked closely with ophthalmologists in delivering integrated patient care. He is licensed to provide primary care optometry and treat ocular disease, and he stays current with the latest advancements in diagnostic technology and treatment approaches. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association.
Dr. Wilson lives in Peoria and enjoys a wide variety of activities in his spare time, including biking, motorcycling, cooking, photography, and spending time outdoors, whether gardening, golfing, hunting, or playing tennis.
