Optical
Once upon a time, glasses were strictly functional-and many of us have the old-school pictures to prove it. Today, eyewear is at the forefront of fashion with major designers creating incredible styles worn by everyone from A-list celebrities to people just like you. The Optical Departments at the Illinois Eye Center desire to give our patients the best eyewear options possible, so you can look and feel fantastic each and every day.
Showcase your personality with eyeglass frames that fit your face and your image. Choose from popular brands like Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B., Harley Davidson, Coach, Calvin Klein, Guess, Betsey Johnson, and Ted Baker. Or choose from quality private brands such as Silhouette, Ovvo, and ProDesign.
Don’t forget to update your sun wear while you’re here, with name brand frame and lenses with or without your prescription, like Nike, Ray Ban, Maui Jim, and Callaway.

Eyewear for Children
Give your little ones corrective eyewear they will want to wear with frames appropriately fit from our children’s collection. Browse our styles suitable for newborns through teenagers, built with both aesthetics and durability in mind.
Eyewear for Sport and Safety
Check out our section on sport and safety packages for those needing protection during those softball games, swim lessons, or for the handyman in the back-yard wood shop. Packages available in single vision, bifocal, or progressive lenses.
After a visit with your eye doctor, you will be instructed to see one of the opticians at Illinois Eye Center.
What is an Optician?
An optician is certified to dispense frames and lenses from prescriptions issued by optometrists and ophthalmologists. Specifically, opticians analyze and interpret prescriptions, determining the best lens options for wearers’ needs based on the patient’s occupation and hobbies. The optician prepares and delivers work orders for the grinding of lenses and fabrication of eyewear. Opticians are trained to adjust, repair, and replace previously prepared ophthalmic lenses, frames, and other specially fabricated devices.
Board-Certified, Licensed Opticians
With technology in optics rapidly changing, our board-certified and licensed opticians will guide you through the process and provide you with information on the latest technology available. Our opticians have ABO (American Board of Opticianry) certification. ABO certification means that our opticians have passed national testing with continuing education, and are knowledgeable and qualified to handle your eye care needs with competence. Let our opticians assist you in selecting the right frame and lens type for you and your entire family today.
If you have optician training and are interested in working with our Illinois Eye Center team, please visit our employment section.
