During your consultation, you will learn if LASIK is right for you. LASIK is not typically for patients who are over the age of 60, for example, due to the possible onset of cataracts. Your IEC eye doctor will also determine how much correction each of your eyes will require. Eye professionals typically use the word “diopter” when describing the focusing power, or amount of correction, your eye will need; a higher diopter number means your eye needs more correction. LASIK is not generally appropriate for correcting the focusing power greater than 9 diopters. If we determine that LASIK may not be right for you, we are always glad to suggest alternatives to help you see more clearly in 2021.
