Dr. Stephen Winkler is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist. After completing a Fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Krieger Eye Institute in Baltimore, Maryland he stayed there continued for an additional five years to practice and teach.
Dr. Winkler did his undergraduate work at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by attending the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Rockford, Illinois for his doctorate degree. Post-graduation, he participated in a surgical internship at Northwestern University/ McGaw Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, an oculoplastic externship in Vernon Hills, Illinois at Ritacca Laser Center, and an ophthalmology residency at Krieger Eye Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.
Treating diseases and lesions in the eyelid and orbital regions, as well as orbital facial reconstruction, are among Dr. Winkler’s passions. He also enjoys helping individuals feel their best with eye and forehead aesthetic surgery.
Outside of the office, Dr. Winkler cherishes family time with his wife and son, and can often be found composing music, cycling, and snowboarding. He resides in the suburban Chicago-area with his family, where he was recognized in the June, 2023, issue of Chicago Magazine as one of Chicago’s Top Doctors.
