This is a 40 hour per week position.

Work hours are somewhere between 7 am and 5:30 pm dependent on the position and patient needs. Some

Responsibilities:

The Optical Clerical Support Staff is responsible for managing all clerical duties related to the Optical Department. This includes answering phones, processing contact lens orders, verifying insurance and vision plans, handling patient inquiries, reconciling vendor statements, and supporting the optical team with dispensary and patient care duties as needed.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proficient computer knowledge and skills
  • Some optical knowledge or experience preferred  

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer programs (Compulink, Outlook, Word, insurance portals)
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to problem-solve and think quickly
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Accuracy and speed in task completion using sound judgment
  • Working knowledge of optical and contact lens terminology
  • Ability to read and interpret optical records and patient charts
  • Basic office and clerical skills
  • Ability to follow directions and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Pekin Office Closure - 03/17/2026

On Tuesday, March 17th, the Pekin clinic will be closed all day. Our Peoria clinic will open at 9am and Washington will open at 9:30am to accommodate staff training.
